Sophie Mercedes Lardon completed her studies in Performance Design at Central Saint Martins University London, where she focused on interactive spatial design and audience reaction and participation.
In 2019 she launched Studio Mercedes under which she has worked cross-disciplinary from interior, residential, set and hospitality projects to product design.
Whilst, conceptually the studio focuses on the amalgamation of spacial contexts, compositions and immersion - the studio’s objects, derive their inspiration from biomimicry and circuit systems of nature.
Through this broadened spectrum, the studio can implement from product through to spatial design, strategic planning & colour consultancy. Whether designing for a client's brief or developing self-initiated projects, the studio applies the same rigour and passion.
The client base ranges from private to commercial commissions and collaborations with cultural institutions, designers and artists.
She designed and directed for Trinity Laban Dance School, the Royal Academy of Arts London, Écal and the Cabaret Voltaire. Her work has been shown in NZZ, Vogue Italia & Germany and Ideat magazine.
